I’m a fan of Tony & Kerry. Katie seems adorable outside of Scandal & Jeff seems cool.

But am I a fan of the show…not so much. The show right now isn’t giving me anything to be a fan of. I’m glad that Kerry had an episode all about her but right now this show is the same as watching Scott play Jake. No shade or hate towards Scott but he gives me nothing, no powerful performance, nothing so I’m not a fan. That is what the show is doing for me right now.

    image

The last episode, I literally still, even almost two weeks later only got that Stephen looked good with his salt & pepper beard. That is all that I got from the show. It has been easier not talking about the show than I thought it would be because it has been such a active part of my life for the last almost 2 years. But for me, I completely lost the passion that I had for this show. I don’t feel the need to watch live or write anymore reviews because I don’t have anything to say about this show. It is not important or fun enough for me to even try anymore. So I’m here & I will still engage in conversations or discussions when I have something to say but until then me & Scandal right now is basically like…

My feelings right now with Scandal is: I am indifferent.

No, I do not think that it can get back to the way it was because too much has happened. There is no Harrison. Huck & Quinn do their whole weirdo fuck shit. Jake is still here for whatever reason. Olivia is not sympathetic or likable as the lead(er). James is dead. Tom killed Jerry(tehe…I just made myself laugh thinking about the cartoon Tom & Jerry). New Karen is a thot. Teddy still won’t grow up. Too much has happened. Now there are ways to right these wrongs but I don’t see it happening. All that anyone who still watches the show can hope for is that they go back to cases of the week, Olivia takes responsibility for herself & gets the help that she needs so that she can start loving herself, & Fitz seeks some form of help to give him piece of mind & so that he can start loving himself enough to know that love should not come with a condition & that he is worthy of far more that he has bee given from the people that are around him.

YES TO EVERYTHING YOU SAID. That last episode was my last fuck it. Fitz deserve wayyy more than he is getting. I love Tony but that last episode was the final straw. I’ll do what the other former gladiators do which is watch olitz scenes through gif because come on I don’t think I’ll ever be over olitz.

    Amen to everything

said. I love olitz. OLD olitz. This past episode had me wanting to throw a wine glass at olivias dome. At this point, if they get together, cool. If they dont, thats cool too. Ill enjoy whatever little happy moments they have here and there but im done getting my hopes up. Scott is making money but not paying for acting classes and the show as a whole makes no sense. They spend too much time trying to “shock” us rather than writing consistent and entertaining storylines. I honestly just watch for tony now.

Commentary !!! I think I’ve half heartedly watched off my dvr because I’m a fan of the lead actors because this show leaves much to be desired. That last episode felt like a kick in the gut after years of rooting for Olivia, Fitz and them as Olitz. Did Shonda really have to do that to them ? I’m sick of her revealing things about their relationship through some third party source, Huck can’t do much of anything these days because Choke is around but he can tell us Fitz gave Liv her ring ?!! The Olitz scraps are now cereal dust crumbs. We used to get scenes with Olitz making out and now they’ve been reduced to fantasies in Olivia’s head. Tell me that’s not fucking insulting to the fanbase that gave “Scandal” it’s success.

I don’t like Olivia Pope anymore because she’s turned into one of her former clients, she lies to herself and refuses the help everyone around tries to offer than she’s pissed that things fell apart. I still can’t believe she put herself up for auction then got angry that Fitz couldn’t save her, what did she think would happen ?!?! When did she become so arrogant and self absorbed like the woman who made her up ?!!

Agreeing to everything said…I only watch now and then because of Fitz, still got mad love for him.

Let’s just say I can go days without thinking about Scandal. I could not do this one year ago, thanks to Shonda.

During one of our last conversations,Casey and I wondered at how easy it was to form strong and lasting friendshipsonline.  We concluded that it was, inpart, because people can seek each other out based solely on common interests. Chances are, upon joining a fandom andsubsets of that fandom, you will find people with whom you get along verywell.  This is amazing!  What can easily start out with an awkward “getting to know each other” phase happens naturally and gradually the more you interact with each other.  Things like names, occupations and hobbies aren’t important right away, if at all, because you’ve already bonded over something that’s important to you.

This is how Casey and I started out.  We stalked each other.  It’s so romantic, I know.  While many Scandal fans were cordoning themselves off according to ships and allegiances to bloggers with bigger followings, others were making friends “across the aisle” through critical conversation about the show and its characters. Isn’t that deep? Too bad that wasn’t our story…Nope, we caught each other’s attention through rambling bits in defense of our favorites.  One day, I believe I posted some scathing remarks about certain trouble makers in the fandom and then called an awkward truce…and Casey reblogged it!  And I regblogged her reblog saying, “I see you, Case.” She responded with a smiley face emoji and then we followed each other.

We messaged each other on tumblr back and forth before we followed each other on twitter.  And then messaged each other on twitter for a month before exchanging numbers…and then we texted all day, every day for weeks!  It was like new love:

    “You hang up.”

    “No, YOU hang up!”

It was through these messages and eventual telephone conversations that I got to know who “Case32” was beyond the unapologetic Olitz “shipper”, Tony Goldwyn/ Fitz fan and admirer of Kerry Washington.  So hopefully, if I haven’t bored you, you’ll read on to get to know her as I did.

Casey Sims loved sports.  She rooted for the Patriots this past Superbowl  (who won by the skin of their teeth, just saying), and had a 50% chance of watching basketball on television verses anything else.  She loved UGA’s college football team and was super psyched when her friend sent her some memorabilia.  No, you don’t understand: super duper psyched.  She may have even flatlined a little.  It was that serious!  Her favorite athletes were “Dwade”, Tom Brady, Roger Federer and Tiger Woods.

One of the running themes in the Scandal fandom is the idea that characters, like people, should be layered, complex. Casey was exactly that!  In addition to being one of those crazy competitive sports fanatics I couldn’t relate to but found supremely entertaining, Casey LOVED books!  She was into everything: history, politics, religion, romance, mystery…but especially literature.  “Not necessarily American literature”, she made sure she clarified.  We shared a strange love of Huckleberry Finn.  If Casey ever had a son, she would have named him Finn.  Her favorite work, hands-down, was Romeo and Juliet.  One of the reasons she loved Olitz and Fitz so much, in her own words, was that she was “interested in [learning] about love vs obsession vs addiction”.  In one of our conversations about Fitz, she said simply, “Love makes you do crazy things. I like that about his character.” I told her that she was having a love affair with Olitz’ love affair.  It was corny but she loved it.

Casey was brilliant.  One of her concentrations in college was history.  She said to me, “You have to remember everything has its place. Without it, we wouldn’t be where we are now.  It sucks sometimes, just like with slavery, but here we are.”  She absolutely loved Princess Diana.  She even had a box full of clippings and books about her.  She was also a self proclaimed Hilary Clinton stan. She went to Hilary’s office in D.C. when Hilary was a senator and had the opportunity to speak to her chief of staff! She even interned in a Republican congressional office!  “It’s weird”, she said, “They see things totally different.”

Casey was a comedian!  She had a playfulness about her and she loved to tease.  I’d say I’m swearing off carbs and she’d tag me in every fatty, greasy, comfort food and dessert post she came across just to get a reaction out of me.  Of course I have no discipline and could never rise above, so she always got a good laugh.  If I was engaging in deep and meaningful conversation about Fitz/ Olitz on tumblr, she’d send me half naked photos of Tony in HG.  She was a poor sport though, because I sent her ONE, just one, Scott Foley Charisma ad and it almost broke up our friendship.  (Kidding, but I almost peed myself laughing at her reaction).

Family was very important to her.  Casey lost her dad, whom she described as just like her but more stubborn, in 2012.  She is survived by her mother, brother and her dog.  I can’t take the liberty of being more specific but I thought it important to mention her strong family ties.

I loved all of these things about Casey and so much more.  One of the greatest things I admired about her was her ability to persevere through difficult circumstances.  I won’t say she was a “strong black woman”.  We both hated that term, because it works off the assumption that black women are these bastions of strength that can withstand incredible hardship and pain…Casey was human. She admitted when things were unbearable or really really tough but she leaned on those she loved and trusted.  I was lucky to be one of those people.  I won’t go into detail about it because I think she would have shared it herself if she wanted to; however, I would have no doubt been unbearable to be around were I in her shoes and I told her that many times.

Casey enjoyed cruising once per year.  She wanted to try an Alaskan cruise after I regaled her with stories from my experience…but she was definitely warm blooded and deeply resented the snow that covers GA even now.  Her favorite drink was Crown and diet coke and she, like Olivia Pope, LOVED popcorn.  She wanted to see Olitz fix themselves and eventually find their way back to each other. I’m saddened to think that she won’t know the outcome of her favorite show and characters, but…

…Back in January, we introduced each other to our pastors via websites and videos.  One Sunday, when I went to church with my family, she watched one of my pastor’s sermons.  On January 19th at 6:17PM she direct messaged me a quote from the sermon:

“We’re wise enough to know God doesn’t make mistakes.”

It was followed, in Casey fashion, with three sobbing emojis.  I’m so grateful for Casey’s friendship, and if you had the chance to know her even a little, I’m sure you are just as blessed to have known her as I am.

    Very beautifully written…RIP Casey

So I discovered some interesting shonda tweets from last weeks episode ..

    defensive much..

My ass she’s rooting for fitz’s happiness - more bullshit coming out of her mouth

I’m so glad it’s not on tonight because reading these again just brings back the hurt and the anger and I can’t imagine wanting to watch more!

Ha, the funniest part is her saying she’s rooting for Fitz. She has systematically destroyed that character for 2 seasons, don’t tell me she’s rooting for him. lol

    image

#That’s all I’m saying#so many lies#how is there not supposed to be logic in an argument?#that is how you make sense#with LOGIC#so in essence is she saying that none of this has to makes sense?#My logical think ass is confused#How do you write something and say it doesn’t have to be logical thus making sense?#The hell?#Maybe I’m just not understanding this right#that has to be it

You know, I’m going to give Shonda that. People are frequently illogical particularly in arguments, that’s why they do half the shit that they do. I actually believe Olivia could want several things at the same time - to be saved by Fitz and also be mad at him for letting people die in her place. It’s not fair, but people do this.

Shonda seems to put even more impossible shit on Fitz though, she’s going extra. She seems to be saying that Fitz sent people to war for Olivia and he’s so incompetent he couldn’t even save her. That Olivia’s Daddy was right this whole time.

Tell me again she’s rooting for Fitz. lol

I am so done with Scandal and Shonda’s Salty A$$.

  • Seems like I made the right decision not to watch Scandal in real time. It’s a crying Ass Shame that Shonda has decided to just Fuck up what use to be a Great show. I’m so over this shit and it’s easier than I thought it would be. Kerry can’t be happy with the lines she’s been given these days….there you go, Shonda strikes again!!

    scandalgladiators:

The Goldwyns are not at issue. They are joyous. Olitz is what needs work.

Well how can bright minds like us believe this supposedly intelligent woman who is suppose to be so together is all over the place with her feelings. It’s working Shonda Liv is pissing me off but did you really have to go there with Tom?

  • She thanked her husband and didn't look Tony's way. Tony referred to her as a friend. I doubt he'd let some other man be called the father of Kerry's baby.
